This Wednesday 22nd April 2015, a two-day conference bringing together Heads of State and Government from Asian and African continents was held at Jakarta, in Indonesia.
In his remarks while addressing the conference, Rwanda’s Premier Anastase Murekezi, on behalf of President of the Republic Paul Kagame, said that Rwanda supports partnership between African and Asian continents in finding solutions to development.
“Rwanda also supports social development through poverty reduction and safeguarding peace and security in the countries of both continents based on the declaration of Bandung Conference held in Indonesia, in 1955.” Anastase Murekezi added.
This conference which was officially opened by Joko WIDODO, President of Indonesia, saw the participation of different leaders and delegates from 93 countries.
A commemorative ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference and 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership, is planned after the conference.
Bandung, the city in which ceremonies will take place, has become the icon of cooperation between developing countries, because for the last 60 years, 29 delegates from African and Asian countries gathered at the place and discussed issues related to independence, peace and economic development.
The delegation led by the Prime Minister includes Ms. Claire AKAMANZI, Chief Operating Officer of RDB and Ms. Yvette MUKARWEMA, Deputy Chairperson in charge of operations in the Private Sector Federation.
